We are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for two conferences, to be held conjointly at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, June 5-7th, 2015:
* The 20th biennial Meeting of the Dictionary Society of North America (DSNA-20) invites contributions on any aspect of lexicography and lexicology in any language.
* The 9th International Conference on Studies in the History of the English Language (SHEL-9) invites contributions on any aspect of the history and development of English or any of its varieties.
The joint conference theme of DSNA-20 & SHEL-9 is “Multilingual Approaches”. Scholars are encouraged, wherever possible, to foreground any bi- or multilingual aspects in their work in as far as present. In keeping with the traditions of both conference series, the theme is a recommendation: all topics, regardless of the conference theme, are most welcome and will be given equal weight in the adjudication process.
Following successful SHEL conferences in Provo, UT (2013), Bloomington, IN (2012) and Banff, AB (2009) and successful DSNA meetings in Athens, GA (2013), Montreal, QC (2011) and Bloomington, IN (2009), this first joint meeting of the two associations is intended to provide opportunities for synergies between the fields.
Meetings are scheduled on 5 June (all day), 6 June (all day) and 7 June (half day), with a pre-conference excursion on 4 June (half day).
Workshop proposals (including pedagogy sessions) should be between 800 and 1000 words, excluding references. Submission is via the conference email email@example.com.
Abstracts are invited of a length between 300 and 500 words, excluding references. Submission of abstracts is via EasyAbs. Please refrain from any self-identifying references in your abstract and indicate in the abstract whether you consider your paper primarily for DSNA or SHEL.
